Sylvia is a Social worker with over 12 years of experience in nonprofit organizations. She has worked with students and graduates of university and colleges, as a volunteer with the Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS) Uganda. Sylvia also served children, youth, and their parents under the ministry of Food for the Hungry Uganda, to promote both child and youth development and community development. In 2008, Sylvia worked with people with disabilities at the College Church’s Disability Ministry, in Wheaton, Illinois, U.S.A. In 2016, Sylvia founded Stars Ministry Uganda (SMU), a ministry to children with disabilities and their caregivers, with the goal of sharing the love of Christ by encouraging and supporting people with disabilities and their families.
Sylvia has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Social Administration from Uganda Christian University.
Sylvia is a member of the Discipleship Team, at The City Church where she, together with her husband lead a table (a small group of about 20 church members). She is also involved with the women’s ministry, for mentoring and discipleship.
She has been married to Nicholas Kalyebara since 2006 and they have 3 children.
